Blakemore became a Neighborhood Conservation Zoning Overlay district March 1989.

The architecture exhibits elements of the Tudor Revival, Craftsman, Colonial Revival and Dutch Colonial styles. The conservation zoning overlay was required as part of the PUD (Planned Unit Development) to insure that the residential character of the existing buildings would be maintained.
